Poverty in The Gambia is mainly caused by a lack of economic diversification in agriculture. Over half of all Gambians depend on agriculture to bring money and food to the table but must a subsistence farmers. Lack of mechanised agriculture equipment, poverty among other factors contribute to fatique in engagemnet in agriculture. Harsh weather conditions leave many peoples' farming fates unpredictable. Higher rain falls and lower rain
falls can leave many families with crops consequently without food at the end of the harvest season. The unpredictability of climate change even excersibate the volunerability of these subsistence farmers.
